This position provides assistance in strategy and implementation for the marketing of all NIBS products, services, and events, and membership marketing.  This position provides input on the NIBS brand, annual conference branding, as well as website design and content, including taxonomy, format and compliance.

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, the Director will provide both technical and management support for a variety of projects, including but not limited to related work under the Building Seismic Safety Council (https://www.nibs.org/bssc) and Multi-Hazard Mitigation Council (https://www.nibs.org/mmc). The Building Seismic Safety Council (BSSC) deals with the complex technical, regulatory, social and economic issues involved in developing and advancing seismic design and construction. The Multi-Hazard Mitigation Council (MMC) addresses the challenges associated with identifying and implementing effective mitigation and community resilience practices; and serves as a national focal point of credible building science information and whole-building strategies that strengthen individual buildings, businesses, communities and the nation.

The position requires a professional who possesses a strong engineering background, and broad knowledge in codes, standards, planning, natural hazard (flood, wind, seismic, wildfire) mitigation, lifelines and other structures. Documented and demonstrated ability to interface with Federal government and building industry constituents and code groups is essential to the position. Excellent writing and communication skills are required, as are experience with writing technical reports and presenting at professional conference.

SUMMARY

This position is an entry-level Project Manager role designed to oversee and support multiple projects within NIBS’ Technical Solutions Group (TSG)’s purview.

NIBS’ TSG manages a number of innovative and exciting Federal projects and industry initiatives in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, embodied carbon, cost and risk management, workforce development, building standards, innovative construction techniques and practices, architecture, and engineering.

NIBS is searching for an energetic and creative entry-level project manager who will support the group’s Vice President and Senior Project Managers in launching new initiatives and projects and overseeing and supporting existing project portfolios.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support the day-to-day management of volunteer and subcontracted project committees and professional service contractors
  • Utilize reports, data pulls, spreadsheets, and other database tools to track overall project performance and deliverable schedule
  • Support and evaluate project performance from inception to closeout, in coordination with TSG Vice President and Senior Project Managers
  • Coordinate with NIBS staff and leadership to research and identify new business development opportunities and subsequent proposals in the Federal and private sectors
  • Review technical research and literature to support the design and preparation of specific studies and projects and review technical research and literature
  • Prepare content for presentations and promotional materials for NIBS events, meetings, and workshops
  • Serve as a technical liaison and ambassador for NIBS at Federal and industry meetings, conferences, and events
  • Liaise with other internal project groups, as well as the NIBS Board and Senior Leadership on projects/initiatives critical to the Institute’s mission and strategic plan

Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, public policy, project/program management, economics, business, or other pertinent discipline; demonstrable experience as an entry-level project manager or similar employment; 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SUMMARY

This is an entry level position assigned to a federal government agency and includes performing a variety of tasks associated with the Agency's Building Information Modeling and Management (BIM) initiatives as part of NIBS BIM Program team. The primary responsibilities include assisting the agency in auditing BIM and related deliverables on construction projects, supporting agency staff with linking and accessing BIM content from remote locations, and contributing to procedures for optimally supporting BIM workflows based on latest technologies adopted by the agency.

Purpose:

Works closely with Manager to grow and expand NIBS’ public image through writing and editing everything from blog posts to white papers. This position has the skillset to write for many channels in a voice that resonates with the intended audience and meet NIBS communication goals.
